English: This contemporary Filipino sword (middle) came from Antique province in the western Visayas.
The full picture of the bolo can be seen here. In the local (Panay) dialect, the bolo is called a binangon. It is a multi-purpose bolo used for work as well as for personal defense. The hilt is made of wood. The ferrule is made of metal. Overall length: 468 mm (18.4 inches); Blade length: 345 mm (13.6 inches); Maximum blade thickness: 5.0 mm (3/16 inch); Scabbard length: 389 mm (15.3 inches) The middle and the lower binangons are both contemporary. The one on top is an antique piece. Note how the pommels of the new pieces appear to have descended from the intricately carved typical figural monster of the antique piece.
