The cards which are provided to the account holders for use in automated teller machines known as ATM are known as ATM cards.
Nowadays, these cards are known as debit cards and credit cards
Debit cards are provided to the customers of the banks who maintain savings, current or overdraft accounts
Credit cards are loan cards and these cards are available with certain 'loan limits'.
Credit cards can be provided with credit limits say - Rs. 10000; Rs. 25000; Rs. 100000 etc.,
In the case of debit cards, the cardholders can withdraw money from automated teller machines upto the amount held in their accounts with the banks
In the case of credit cards, the cardholders can use the credit limit and the credit limit is reinstated once the entire amount is paid to the bank during any billing cycle
Debit cards and credit cards can be used in automated teller machines using PIN numbers
PIN means Personal Identification Number and this number is represented by four numerical digits (as per the system prevalent in India)
